CDG connection..75 minutes...(??)

I am looking at an AF flight from Milan to JFK which would involve a connection in CDG. Connection time is 75 minutes; date is late September.

1. I see no info regarding gates on the AF site; how can I determine the arrival and departure gates? (Fights are AF 1115 connecting in CDG to AF 006)

2. There is another flight to JFK later that day. (About 4pm) but the option to book this flight is not showing up on their site.

3. What is the worst case scenario..that AF will place me in a hotel overnight and send me home the next morning?

Just wondering if anyone has any advice or further info for me; I have read most of the posts here about CDG connections...

Many thanks!

Depending upon traffic, gate assignments can change at any minute. However, I can tell you that all Air France flights use Terminal 2. For Milan it's 2F and for JFK it's 2E.

If you miss your connection, AF will put you on the next available flight. Those flights depart at 16:30, 18:50, and 20:45.

Thanks so much for that information, TimS. The connection should be relatively easy then..

Hi ek,

>If you miss your connection, AF will put you on the next available flight. Those flights depart at 16:30, 18:50, and 20:45.<

The operating word is "available". It doesn't mean that you will be put on any of those flights.

It doesn't mean that AF will put you up at a Paris hotel.

>What is the worst case scenario....

AF will offer you a 2 connection flight that takes 26 hours to get to JFK via Copenhagen and Rejkavik.

If you don't take it, you sleep at the airport.

I would not book this flight.

PS,

Others have reported getting through CDG in under 0:45 hr.

Thank you, Ira. I did get through in an hour last spring.
I would place bets that there would be a seat on a direct flight the same day, so would not be too concerned about having to take a puddle jumper!

And if there is no seat, why would the airline not put me up??

Forgot to mention that I have "gold" status with AF; not sure if that would have any impact..

Still wondering about the issue of having to stay overnight if we miss the connection: Is it not the rule that AF would have to put us in a hotel if we cannot fly out that day due to a missed connection? (Both flights being on AF)??

(Years ago (late 90s) they put me up at a hotel for 3 nights..I had a connecting flight to Bamako that was cancelled due to an air controller's strike in WA that lasted almost three days; the entire plane was lodged in a hotel where we spent Christmas!)

Site for AF transfers at CDG http://correspondances-aeroports.air....fr/_index.php

You won't know the exact arrival and departure gates in advance, but 2F to 2E is a relatively easy transfer (it's improved since last spring). Just check the monitors on arrival to see which part of 2E your JFK flight departs out of - gates E21-47 are in 2E main terminal and gates E51-76 are in S3. For transfers from 2F to S3, you can also walk through the corridor that connects the two.

Since you're FB gold you can use any of the Acces No.1 lanes at passport control and security.

I believe AF will put you up although I've personally never been stuck overnight at CDG and since there are at least 2 additional CDG-JFK nonstops after yours, I don't see it coming to that anyway.

Many thanks, Patty. I would not be too worried about getting on the next plane, or the one after that, but just in case (and out of curiosity) I am wondering: I thought that the airlines had to put you up in a hotel if you miss a connection through no fault of your own...

Anyone know the rules on this?

If you're talking about ex-EU or on a EU carrier, I believe it's covered under http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/...4R0261:EN:HTML

Elsewhere, however, such requirements may not exist. In the US, I've only been offered overnight accommodations in instances where it was considered under the airline's control such as mechanical. When it's been weather, I've had to pay for my own hotel.
