Here's a mapquest map showing the location:
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...&geodiff=1
It's where Via Florida and Via Arenula come together.

One of my favorite places in Rome! I am a cat lover and spent probably a good hour walking around the perimiter of the cat sanctuary ooohing and aaahing at all of the precious cats. And as a history lover, the ruins alone are worth the visit.

jfahey, in addition to taking your own photos you can find lots of calendars, including little "pocket" ones, that feature these and other Roman cats. Nice little gifts for your cat-loving friends and pet-sitters.
emmabro, we stayed near the Forum on last year's trip, and yes, I did see lots of cats wandering around the ruins at night.
The strangest cat encounter on that trip was in Umbria up the hill from where we stayed, in a tiny town called Gualdo Catteno (sp?).
Tracy, remember this place? We walked up there under a full moon and found the town almost deserted, except for a few somber-looking men in a little cafe and those cats! One at a time, they appeared out of nowhere and led us up the dark steep streets. One would disappear and then another appeared and kept up the moonlit tour. Mysterious!

Annabelle, Gualdo Cuttaneo was indeed mysterious, and a little on the spooky side! We walked around the town one evening and, just like you, the only people that we saw were a group of about three older men that were sitting at tables outside of a cafe or bar. They kind of stared at us strangely, probably because they don't get very many visitors, especially in March! The town was interesting though, and made for quite a dramatic picture when we pulled over from that long winding road to take a few pictures. But we did see lots of cats, and I loved them! Actually I think I've seen at least one cat in every hill town we visited!
