Castle lodging
We are going to be in the Inverness area in late October and would love to spend one night in a castle...we found Castle Stuart, but it is booked for the evening we are hoping for, which is my husband's birthday! Any others you may know of in this general area?
Thanks so much!

Totour - here's a link for castles in the area, at least according to google: http://www.scotland-inverness.co.uk/...ine/accomm.htm. Perhaps you'll find something on that link. Good hunting!

We stayed at Inverlochy Castle in Fort William, Scotland last summer and loved everything about it. It is in a lovely setting and has a Michelin starred chef on the premises, so it would be perfect for a birthday dinner. After dinner, you can enjoy a drink in the great room and listen to the wonderful piano player. If you have a car, it might be worth the drive for a night's stay.

Inverlochy is in a slightly (!) different financial league to Castle Stuart. Try Tulloch Castle at Dingwall, Delgatie Castle at Turriff- although I think that one is only self catering- Dornoch Castle at Dornoch, Castle Forbes in Aberdeenshire, or Fordyce Castle at Portsoy- also self-catering.

Have a look at www.celticcastles.com/find_scottish.asp as that lists a number of castles throughout Scotland including the Inverness area
