Although Ive not been, I hear that Sardinia has better beaches than the Caribbean - that said, Skiathos has the best beaches of all the places I have been so far (as well as being the best Island in Greece... IMO)and I prefer it to the Caribbean. Cyprus has beautiful beaches as does Rhodes. Crete is a wonderful destination and I would not distract you from going there as a destination.
