Carte Navigo/Carte Orange- Help, I'm Confused!
On my past visits to Paris, I've used the Carte Orange, which was great. In fact, I still have the little folder with my picture (which I got at one of the station's booths). What is the difference between this and the current Navigo, which I'm reading about? Does the Navigo replace the Carte Orange?
If so, can I just use the same little picture that I already have?
I will probably just want the zones 1 and 2 pass. I'll be arriving in Paris on a Monday, staying 13 days. In fact, I already have about 10 tickets left over from a "carnet" - wonder if they will still be good?? Any info will be appreciated!

Navigo is an electronic form of payment that the user waves at the turnstile scanner rather than running it through a slot. The pass stored on it is the same as one of the old CO tariffs, weekly or monthly.
If you live or work in Ile-de-France, your Navigo is free. Visitors must pay 5€ for the card. Same photo ID requirement as the CO.

Go to a metro station with a live person and get the new card. They will help you. Pay the 5 euros for the permanent card and it is 16.80 euros per week for the Navigo refill..Mon-Sun. Yes, your carnet leftovers will work. The new Navigo Decouverte is great. You don't even have to take it out of youir purse for metro/bus. Have a good trip. Joan

The 'pass' you load onto the Navigo Decouverte is equivalent to the former Carte Orange. I think the future terminology will move toward 'Navigo Decouverte pass semaine'... Bring a new photo, the electronic card lasts for 10 years...

Jumping in here because I have questions as well. I hope no one minds. What size photo? How do you know what zones you need? We will be in Paris for 8 days 20-28 of June. Does this go to Versailles? I am so confused. Thanks for the helpful advice.

The photo is similar to small one on most ID cards, drivers license, etc. 1cm x 2cm, or approx 1"x1", just a clear 'head' shot. You can cut one out of a photo you already have, or take a new digital one to cut out. Passport-size photos are too too large.
Paris boundaries pretty much fit into zones 1-2*, which is also what the basic single metro/bus ticket covers. Versailles is zone 4 (a separate r/t ticket is only 6€ or so), Disney is zone 5 (a separate r/t ticket is only about 12€).. CDG is also zone 5. The RER ticket between CDG/Paris is 8.40€ one way).
* you don't have to figure out what's zone 1 or zone 2, all tickets/passes cover zone 1-2 at the very least.
