Carrara marble tours - how to get info

I am very interested to take a guided tour of the marble mines at Carrara, but I am unable to find any information on this from the ususal suspects - Fodors, Frommers, RickSteve etc.
Has anyone taken this and can someone tell me if these would be available in late Feb? Any other place that someone could point me to for info on this would be greatly appreciated.

I do not know how to paste the link into this answer, but if you go to Slow Travels website and their message board is Slowtalk put in Carrara under their "Find" feature. There is a discussion with some good information entitled "Day drive to Lucca and Carrara".

Having read The Agony and the Ecstasy I would love to go there on our trip this March, but may have to skip it due to the distance.

Rick Steves' show yesterday had a guided tour to carrara on it. the main theme was cinque terre so maybe if you google on that, there will be day trips listed with tours, etc.

Pg - The Carrara tourism website might be the best place to start. Here's the link:

Hope this helps ...

Hi,I'm Umberto Cattani a member of IL TAU, a Tourist Guide association, licensed to work in Massa-Carrara and La Spezia (Cinque Terre) provinces.
I just read your request and I'm surely late, I would be pleased to plan for you a tour at the marble quarries of Carrara, it is a wonderful idea and an unforgettable experience.
For further details about the program and our fares please contact us at [email protected]
Warm regards
Umberto
