Car rental websites

Travelling to Gremany in August and would like to rent a car. Have heard this is best done in advance. Can I do this over the internet? What are some car rental websites to check prices and book online?

Go to www.google.com & search for "rental cars xxxxxx", where xxxxx is the city you are going to rent in. You will get more websites than you can shake a stick at.

Rented a car in Germany in May through www.europebycar.com. They offered the lowest prices, along with Auto Europe. I found the hertz, avis etc quite a bit higher by comparison.

Hi Lou!
I took a car from National in Frankfurt for six weeks recently and was happy with the service.

The cost for a compact manual with only 4000km on the clock was $23 a day including full insurance. After pre-booking on the Net, I picked it up as agreed at their city office and dropped it back there at the end. But I could have used any other of their many drop-off points throughout Germany.

The only restriction was that I had to stay in the EU. It is worth knowing that it costs another couple of dollars a day to use more than one driver.

Cheers
Harzer

Could a rental be picked up in Frankfurt (via Nuremburg) and left off in Paris
(via Normanday). I don't want to have
to drive it back to point of entry.
Yes, Andy, you can pick up in Germany and drop in France, however, be prepared to pay a stiff dropoff charge.

We just booked a mid size( Renault Laguna, Ford Mondeo or Opel Vectra) for 21 days in Zurich through Budget. They were having a Sale which included all taxes, CDW & Theft for $593. That was considerably less then all the others.
Worth a try!
