Car rental in Corsica
I am trying to rent a car in Corsica, and am having a tough time. I need an automatic, and it seems most are no longer available. I am seeing some options where it says the car will be automatic or manual, but am nervous to take the risk (my manual driving skills are horrible). We are taking the ferry to Bastia, but I found an automatic car in Calvi. Are taxis easily available to take us to the car rental company if necessary? Other alternative was renting a car in Toulon and taking it on the ferry but were told insurance would not cover the ferry crossing.
Europcar has the best reviews but their website will not allow me to search January (wondering if they are closed?). Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Additional information to add - we only need to car to travel 23km to Rutali where we will spend most of our time. We are flexible on ferry arrival locations, but Rutali is our main interest.

As a rule, cars with manual transmissions are standard in France.
Automatics are rare and requested almost exclusively by tourists. Even if you reserve an automatic, there is no guarantee that one will be available when you arrive.
The most reliable place to find an automatic would be at one of the larger airports but as you have noted, most rental contracts preclude your taking cars to Corsica.
The suggestion that you use public transportation might be your best option.

Thank you. It's my understanding that public transportation in January is limited. There are no buses or trains available to get to Rutali. A taxi may be an option, but then once in the village we would have no way to get around.
