CAR RENTAL COMPANIES

Hi- we are a family of 4 and need to rent an automatic transmission car - pick up in the Genova airport. I am also traveling with a family of 5 that will need the same.
Can anyone recommend a good company to use to reserve car. We will need a car on Saturday, July 30th.
Thank you in advance for all suggestions!

AutoEurope, a broker. Best prices/service around. Automatic will cost a lot more than a manual.

Yep. In Europe driving an automatic means you are a lousy driver.
Really ! (I am driving an automatic - sequential).

Autoeurope often has the best prices, but I've also found slightly better rates working directly with Hertz and Avis. If you're a member of AAA in the U.S., check your membership level for possible discounts. I've never had any "service" issues (knock wood), but many say Autoeurope is great in that regard.

Each driver will need to have an International Driver's Permit.

Have had very good luck with AutoEurope. However, I usually fly to Nice, France and rent a car there- even when I am going to Tuscany. Coming from the USA I have discovered three advantages for doing this. The cost for rental is much less, the CDW can be waived as my credit card covers the CDW (not so in Italy) and I feel the French are more trustworthy and reliable in the rental process. Every time I have rented with AutoEurope in Nice they reserved a car with Europecar. Was very happy with the Europecar service too.
