Car or Bus and Train in Austria

My husband and I will be traveling to a resort south of Salzburg in late March. It is off the beaten path and we were not sure about connections to the train station if we choose to take day trips to Vienna or Lucerne. A rental car would give more flexibility. However, I'm not sure about driving on mt. roads in March. Help!

Quinna,

I'm somewhat familiar with that area. I could help you best if you tell what the name of your resort is.

Regards, Jochen

Quinna-
I am very interested in what you decide to do. We are in basically the same situation. In August we will be staying in St. Johann im Pongau which is approximately 30 miles south of Salzburg. We have been given various pieces of advice from knowledgeable friends. We are flying into Munich and at this point our plans include visiting Munich the first and last day of our trip. Obviously will be visiting Salzburg. After that we have not made any decisions except to possibly take the resort's tour to Venice. Thanks.
