Captain Corelli's Mandolin

Hi all,

this is not PRECISELY about travel, but, this book was mentioned (ok, by me) on another thread about "must read books for flights.."

anyway, it opens TODAY in London... I will be there in one week and you betcha I will be standing in line to see this movie...

what's the buzz on the street about this movie? If anyone has seen this, fill me in! (OK, so I am slightly premature on that last request - It's only 8 PM over there now after all...)
<BR

in case many of you don't know...

this book is set in WWII Greece, on a tiny island called Cephallonia. I have friends who have made a detour to see this island while visiting Greece, due to this book.

ok, tied it up - now it is about travel.
<BR

Beth, I went to their web site and the trailer looks very interesting. I seems to have lovely music too.
I was going to bring this up, but I was leary of being "flamed". It is by the producers of "Shakespeare in Love" which I adored! FYI, Judy

Beth: I just read a review of the film on the Guardian's web site-www.guardian.co.uk. Sorry to say, it didn't sound very promising.

Barbara.
