Good evening, Kristin
Have not stayed at either the Luna or
the Paltium, can only suggest the Syrene
on Capri. It is a four star hotel with
32 rooms some of which face the sea and
the Faraglioni, has a beautiful swimming
pool and an excellant terrace ristorante. (see www.caprionline.com/syrene/index.html.)
Go into the above url, there is much
to do, to Anacapri , quaint shops and
seggiovia to Mt. Solaro. Evenings can
be very nice after dinner in the Pza
Umberto, the Marina Piccola...
La Savardina da Eduardo, Via Lo Capo, 8
is supposed to be one of the best on
Capri, however just found out about it
and have not eaten there.
Capri is an excellant for two or possibly three night..Plenty of shops
all over after all this is a tourist
area.. Richard of La Grange Park, IL..

Stayed three nights at the Luna last June and would recommend it without reservation. It is in the most beautiful location on a cliff, with the Gardens of Augustus around it. So it is very quiet and private and yet not very far from the center. It is a four star hotel, very unpretentious, with a beautiful pool to relax by at the end of the day. You can't go wrong and I would go back again in an instant. Don't know the other hotel.
Stayed in quaint old pink coloured hotel on waterfront of Sorrento unlisted but very reasonable priced, clean, and stunning view if you get a room overlooking water. Could not understand why 1/2 price of listed hotels and only found due to departing guests at train station. Hotel is Walking distance to everything and a good stopover before heading to Capri. Cannot remember name unfortunately. Sorrento is a touristy
but lively spot and also a jump off for a highly recommended day tour/drive of the Amalfi coast. On to Capri which was
stunning and my wifes favourite spot to date. Beautiful walks and hiking. Took one 3 hour hike wrong way and ended up walking up the coast a million steps. Ask which way before following a circular trail. Stayed in a smaller hotel facing sea just below capri. Again I cannot remember the name. Would not recommend the higher priced hotels in centre of capri due to noise or the convention type resort facility at bottom of town. It certainly would be the place to splurge and their were some elegant (expensive to moderate)hotels on the edges of Capri. Wonderful evening ambiance, dining and late strolling/shopping however I would avoid the town Capri during the day and visit anacapri, the blue lagoon, and enjoy the beautiful trails while the invasion of day trippers take over the town.
