Capri

I have a tentative hod on Relais Mariscas which is by the Marina in Capri. I am concerned as this is where the boats come in. Has anyone stayed here? It looks lovely. Is this area okay? How far is it to town?: Will it be loud and can we walk to shops and cafes? Thanks so much!

Capritown is on the top of the island - up a major cliff from the marina. You can take a bus up or there is a sort of funicular that does it. Then it's a bus rid to the other town - Anacapri.

The marina area is OK but I would consider staying in either Capri twon or Anacapri. You will want to spend most of your time in that area.

That's Capri "town", not twon.

The Marina isn't really a great spot of cafes and shops. You want to be in Capri Town or Anacapri, or I should say that I would want to be in those places.

The Marina area is more of a transportation hub, albeit on a beautiful island.

Great advice above. I wouldn't stay in The Marina area. Too noisy with boats arriving/departing, and not the best of Capri for views, quiet, etc.

I stayed at this hotel but I was only there one night. If I was staying longer I would get a place in Capri Town. That said the hotel was fine, lovely terrace where we had breakfast, sun deck, Vietri tiled rooms. Not noisy at all - it is raised up a bit at the top of this walkway. the Marina has some cute shops and cafes, places to have gelato. the funiculare goes right up to Capri town.

The hotel is at Marina Grande, the port of the island of Capri.
During the day there is a lot of movement and in the evening back to being a quiet fishing village.

From here boats depart for the island tours and visits to the Blue Grotto. And you're right on the island's largest beach, where the water is almost always clean.

Near the hotel you find my favorite restaurants on the island: Da Paolino and Lo Zodiaco.
For ice cream, try those of Bar Augusto.

Marina Grande is connected to the center of Capri in 5-10 minutes, with frequent bus services, Funicolare and the night with the taxis.

In terms of shopping here you find mostly souvenir shops.
In Capri town you find designer brands shops. For linen and local craft you have to go in the pedestrian area of Anacapri, the highest part of the island.
