CAN'T FIND A HOTEL IN MILAN

All the hotels in Milan seemed to be booked. I have been faxing for days now from every travel guide I can find but every place is filled. Any suggestions?

I suspect that a major fair will be happening during the days you intend to be in Milan ... If that's so, things may get nasty

How many nights do you intend to stay? If you're staying a single night, there's a chance that some of the hotels that are not booked yet will have little interest offering you a room.

In situations like this, one can't afford being selective ... just try to secure any room (when you got one you may then try to improve on it).

Though the ratesseem way outdated, the site below certainly will give you the directions to many hotels not listed in the travel guides you checked.

http://www.venere.it/milano/index.html.en

As you may see, there are several hotels online. If you want a list which includes hotels that are offline, just use the hotel search function (for instance, restricting the choice to 3-star hotels in all Milan's sectors will produce a list of 111 hotels!)

Good luck!

Paulo

This is not Milan (do you HAVE to stay there?) - - a good two hours or more away, but Bassano del Grappa is a WONDERFUL place. Hotel Al Castello, but there are many others as well.

IŽll be home Sunday. Write me if I can help.

Best wishes,

Rex

Hi Gretchen,
My husband and I just got back from Italy two weeks ago and we stayed two nights in Milan before we headed south. The name of the hotel was the San Carlo.
It was about three blocks from the train station, the rooms were very small but clean. Fax 011-39-02-670-3116 and phone 011-39-02-669-3236. It was also near the metro stations for the Last Supper which the hotel made reservations for us and the Duomo. Hope this helps.

Hi Gretchen; You might try www.bestwestern.com Then go to European Countries and then Milan.

It will list many hotels in Milan. We used this to find Hotel City Milan. It was reasonably close to Centrale Station. The best thing is that you can get price and check availability immediately and you can get instant confirmation. It worked very well for us. FYI the Hotel City Milan was a very nice place at a reasonable price. Email me if you want additional information. Enjoy your stay..... Paul J
