Sorry for my long delay. Life (work) got in the way. I did say I would be off until Monday, just didn't know it would be a week from Monday.

ThinGorjus - David was on my list of places to go but DML vetoed it. To be fair it was more of a suggestion on my part. I don't get to worked up on the food planning aspect. DML and DFL had been burned a few times this year on Michelin starred restaurants. David is not one, but they wanted less of the production value meals (at least that was my take).

September 20
We took the train from Prague to Dresden. We didn't use the main station but Holesovice instead. The place is a real soviet gem. Quite drab. I made the McDonalds stop for food because we had such an early train. Big mistake. They don't serve breakfast, and the burger I got was probably made a day or two ago. Serves me right for even trying. There was a station staffer that made sure we got to the right track and lined us up for our car. Very kind and helpful.

Our hotel in Dresden was the Art'otel. DML loves the modern facade and this place didn't let her down. Its a business hotel with a trendy feel. Plus they have a fitness room. DW is ecstatic!

After breifly settling in we walked towards Aldstadt in search of lunch. We were all real hungry. Our hotel was just a few blocks from the enterance of the Zwinger. It was too nice of a day to not walk through its courtyard and get some opening Dresden shots (you have to set the scene!).

Lunch was at Paulaners next to the Royal Castle. The place has a great classy beer hall feel, and they were serving their Okotberfest beer. A good start. I quickly caught up in the German feel. Lunch for me was pretzels, sausages and mustard. They served the sausages in a croc of boiling water. Struck me as odd at first, but everytime you pull one out its nice and hot. DML had roast lamb with vegetables. The other two ordered sort of "boring" meals, and it showed in their ratings. DML and I were the highest as we got caught up in the ambiance. Overall we rated the meal a 7.

Great detail, candert. We're planning our first trip there for next summer (never too early to plan!). I'm copying your report for further review.

Glad to see you posting again. I am curious about your adventures in Dresden

Paulaner's is definitely a good place for a short break and Bavarian food. Have been there a couple of times and always liked it.

Hi
I just wanted to interject, that if in Dresden, check out the Grunes Gewolbe [The Green Vault collection] This is a fantastic collection of gold, silver and jewelry collected by Augustus the Strong. Only half the collection is currently displayed and it took up several rooms.

Glad you liked Bazaar - one of my favorites in Prague. I must say, though, the WORST tuna I have ever had in my life was at that restaurant! No clue how to cook it. Everything else there is good, including the noodles with beef, and the risotto.
