Canal Trip
We are arriving in Nice early May and will have 4 days to get to Beziers before we board our boat. Any suggestions for the 4 days. Places to stay. Does the train go to and from the places mentioned. Where would we stay day 1 in Nice. Thanks

I suggest try Arles, Avignon, Nimes or Carcassone (ok past Bezier and on the canal but depends where you aim to go. All on the train. All have little local hotels as well as international rubbish. Try www.logis.fr (click english).

Sorry I didn't mention FRANCE and we have booked a canal boat for 10days with Crown Blue. We need to be in Bezeirs the night before and would like to know if anyone has a suggestion for a reasonable hotel, maybe near where the barges depart. We will be flying from Australia to London and then onto Nice and would also appreciate a name of a hotel to stay for the night. Our intentions are then to travel by train Nice - Beziers stopping off for a couple of nights on the way down to Beziers. I have tried to also get a timetable for the trains but not having much luck with the National trains. Can anyone help me. Do you have a link. I seem to find plenty on Paris - Beziers but nothing Nice - Beziers. Thankyou

They list several trains a day from Nice to Beziers.
Nice : 8.55 am
Beziers : 3.15 pm (change in Montpellier)
Nice 10.29 am
Beziers 5.5.24 pm (change in Marseille)
Nice 1.30 pm
Beziers : 7.12 pm (change in Montpellier)

Hi
As others have have said, there are loads of places to visit en route. And most are on the railway route. I'd think about a night in Montpellier, and maybe a visit to Sete.
