Have you investigated www.bahn.de / www.bahn.com ? You can just put in your departure point and your destination and it will give you routings and time estimates, and you can play with departure times. The routings don't come up straight away, you have to click on the red arrow when it comes up. You will probably have to change trains twice, once in Steinach, once in Würzburg.

for lots of good stuff on German trains check out www.seat61.com - good info on online discounted tickets - and www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com - if taking 4 or more longish train rides the German Railpass can be as cheap or cheaper than online discounts, which must be booked weeks in advance to guaranteed and cannot be refunded nor changed - a pass lets you hop on any train - like from Rothenburg to St Goar with all those connections - just hop on any train anytime. So do not know how many train you will take but if 4 or more check out the pass, which also is valid on K-D boats on the Rhine - again just hop on anyone anytime.

You could also take a slower but very scenic route via the Castle Road bus that goes thru the sweet Neckar River Valley to Heidelberg, stopping in neat old towns and gliding by numerous ruined castles in this pretty valley.
