<BR>We will stop at Cambridge for 5 nights in end July and I've just been looking for a hotel/guesthouse to put up.<BR><BR>It will be my first time to Cambridge (but not the UK) and I'm realizing that many accomd. in that town do not have airconditioning. I'm from Asia where many if not all hotels provide a/c so I'm wondering if I'm missing something. <BR><BR>Sorry to be asking such a question but could someone pls advise me if it will be uncomfortable sleeping in a room without a/c at this time of the year in Cambridge. The two hotels with a/c seems to be full during the time of my visit. Thank you for your help.

Lennie<BR><BR>I lived in Cambridge for four years in non-airconditioned rooms, and take it from me, you're not missing out on anything! It's quite cool in the evenings, so if you're worried, open the window! Besides, if you know much about the English weather, July isn't usually too hot, it starts warming up late August, early September...<BR><BR>Cambridge, however, is a wonderful city, enjoy it!

Nobody has aircon in the UK apart from modern office buildings, supermarkets and a few expensive hotels - with our weather we'd only need it a few days a year, so the costs don't justify it. Occasionally in the summer (such as last week) it can be uncomfortably warm and humid at night. The best solution is to leave your window open before going out for the evening (obviously with regard to security) and asking the hotel if they can put a desk fan in the room. Many hotels keep a few fans in the housekeeping department, but it's first come first served. <BR><BR>If all else fails, and you do end up visiting in the middle of a heatwave, you can buy a cheap desk fan on the high street for less than &pound;20 (try Argos or Currys).
