Calling on Budman re: your Garmin

I read your trip report a week or two ago (which I loved) and you mentioned taking your Garmin and how handy it was on your trip. Since then, I've been searching the web collecting info on this gadget and I'd like to ask you one or two questions either here or off the board about it.

Thanks so much

Hi Bee,

Would you mind letting the rest of us in on it?

That's, sort of, the purpose of a message board.

My husband is a Garmin addict and now we are techno-dorks who can't seem to find our way out of a paper bag without it. We've used it with great success in Germany, Holland, France, and Belgium (can't remember if I used it in Ireland).

My only complaint is that the maps aren't updated regularly, and when they come out with an update it's $$$ There's so much roadwork everywhere in Europe, it seems.....

Budman, where have you travelled with yours? I'm curious as to which countries have good "Yellow Pages" type databases. We were soo disappointed when we got here to Belgium that the database was so lacking, but in Germany it was fabulous.

LSUvetgirl, This was my first trip to Europe with the Garmin. I just got it this past Christmas and purchased the City Navigator Europe Version 7. We landed in Munich, got me to the Beer Garden, and on to Mindelheim. Then it was all Switzerland by way of the back roads thru Austria. Didn't drive any autoroutes once I left Germany since both Austria & Switzerland require the purchase of a vinette (toll sticker).
