Bus tours from Avignon
A recent post mentioned a bus tour co. based in Avignon - Lieutaud Coaches. The web site looks great - they have morning, afternoon, or all day excursions to Nimes, Arles, and many more. The prices seem very good. Has anyone taken these tours? Would love any info on this company.

yes, I believe that was my post. It was the one time I went to Provence by myself and I don't drive. luckily, these autocars, as they are called, are located outside the train station, because on two different days they were a no-show so I hopped on the next train. One day to Orange. This was the schedule when I took advantage of these tours: April to mid october,
Monday-orange, vaison,
tuesday-pont-du-gard and nimes,
wed.-sainte-maries-de-la-mer, aigues-mortes, etang du vaccares(these are in the camargue),
thur.-saint-remy, les baux, fontveille,
fri.-chateauneuf-du-pape, tavel, lirac.
sat.-gordes, abbaye de senanque, roussillon

Thanks for your reply. Were you able to take one the tours, or did you just use the train. If you did, what did you think. It sounds really good from the information on their web page. It sounds like they go to many of the places I want to go to. Sounds like they may not be very reliable tho. Can you can give me any more info?

Barb, I went on all except the one to Orange. The bus waits for you on some of these excursions as you tour the village or have lunch. In the camargue at St. Maries I had lunch in the main square trying out all exotic shell fish
at a rstaurant/fish market. Another trip, lunched in les baux. I forgot the time and the driver sent a passenger looking for me. I had alot of fun with others on these trips, especially a young French couple from Paris, visiting their friend who lived in Avignon. I think they must be reliable or wouldn't be in business all these years. That was just an isolated instance maybe. if you take a train be sure to buy your ticket beforé going on. I didnt when I went to Orange, thinking I could pay on board. I chatted with a thirteen year old sitting oposite me and asked him how much to pay. He said I'd be fined without a ticket and for me to hide in the toilet.Laughing as I type this and recall that kid knocking on the door to tell me , all clear.

Thanks for the info - did you make reservations for these tours ahead of time, or when you got to Avignon. It sounds like just what I am looking for. Funny about the train!!! Which of these bus trips was your favorite?

no, I would show up when I felt like it. I dont like to travel with set plans for every moment. You never know what's around the corner, and that's more interesting. My favorite was the camargue.Seeing those unfettered wild white horses for the first time gave me a rush. And dining behind those ancient
ramparts in aigues-mortes, a wonderful medievil town, in the cenrtal square
