Bus - Siena to/from Florence
Howdy Fellow Travellers: Has anyone recently travelled to Siena from Florence by bus? I understand Siena is "magical" in the evening as well and was wondering when the last evening bus leaves Siena for Florence? My accommodations are in Florence, but I wanted to take a full day & evening visit to Siena. Any tips on bus travel (e.g. cost, location, bus #, etc. are greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
J

The SITA bus station in Florence is at Via Santa Caterina da Siena 15/rTel. 055 211487 (very close to the Sta. Maria Novella train station). There are "slow" buses to Siena (stopping in many small toens in between) and fast ones, taking about 1:20 hours. It appears that the last bus departing Siena is at 8:30pm. If that isn't good enough the only alternative would be the tain, departing at 9:22pm and arriving at 10:38pm (Rifredi station).
http://www.mega.it/ita/not/sita.htm

Paulo

We took the bus from Florence to Siena in April and Paolo's advice is good. We managed to get a front seat with a wonderful picture window view. One bit of advice: the return bus leaves at a stop across the street. Ask your bus driver for the departure number, location and time - and give yourself time to run up the steep hills to catch it!
