Bus or train from Bucharest to Sophia
Would someone let me know what information and advice they may have to get from Bucharest to Sophia please. my wife and I will be there in September 2024. Train would be preferable if there is one.

There are daily trains, but it is a very long trip (Note that it is Sofia). Check out Rome2Rio but double check the underlying links and verify.
Make sure you note any rules that might be in place if you book in advance (if even possible) - some of these areas may require printed copies.

There's a daily train leaving Bucharest's imposing Gara de Nord at 10:47.
Great scenery across Bulgaria!
Fare €35 or so.
