Denise: Your trip is in the future; but I am waiting for your report!!!! We love Rome (and the Amalfi Coast of course).By coincidence; at the same time you go to Rome; we(and friends) will be goint to London; our loved Paris(5 days) and the Côte D'Azur.Plenty of good options.Enjoy Rome; try fragole di bosco; don't miss porchetta; and let us know about villa borghese. Enjoy!!!!

Weird...I replied and it didn't show up...
I have a list of places I really want to go (thanks to LowCountryIslander and Elizabeth Minchilli)...so lunch will be more what appeals to us and pizza will be a party of it! I would never make it to 9:30 or 10:00pm for dinner! 8:30 is late for me....hungry 24/7!
Jelopez....your trip sounds great! I am really struggling with missing Paris this year! But I promise to include all in my Rome T/R when I return...really looking forward to Borghese Gallery....a year ago I had never heard of it!

Denise:
Just a comment:I know you love Paris( and I think you will be returning there). If you or Chaz have an interest in reading something really good on Paris(in the times of the French Revolution) go for The Way of the Tumbrils; with amazing descriptions of places and persons.

Many thanks Tomarkot! Tying up loose ends now and so ready to get to Rome. I know we will love it and I really am anxious to compare and contrast with Paris. I can't believe the trip is almost here!

Have a wonderful trip, Denise. Don't do too much comparing and contrasting - Rome isn't Paris, but it has its charms and there's much to see and experience that is unique.
Look forward to your trip report.
Buon viaggio!

No worries, Maine. I will allow both cities to stand on their own!
Lucyp....that's great and it certainly is the beauty of the forum! Have a great time and will try to get that T/R up quickly.

Just time perhaps - if you've any gaps remaining - for a last check on Rome's new openings, exhibitions etc?
We've become great fans of this site, which produces a monthly magazine that's often to be found at hotel Reception desks etc...
http://www.unospitearoma.it/en.html
Not sure if it's only a temporary thing, but at present the link there won't work for me - and, to download September's edition, I've had to use the one marked with a "down" arrow symbol, to the lower left here:

Trust you'll have a great time....

Have a great trip Denise! Glad to hear you got tickets to the Galleria Borghese. The marble statues brought tears to my eyes even the second time around. And the park makes for pleasant strolling afterward.
If you are in the Piazza Navona area and stumble across a gelateria called Frigidarium..go in! They have delicious gelato. Also just up the street is Cul de Sac, a great wine bar with good food and a lively atmosphere.
I don't know if you plan to do any shopping but there is a street called Cola di Rienza in the Prati neighbourhood, not far from the Vatican that has a great mix of stores and not all at astronomical prices. If you Google it you will see they also have a covered market. It is not so touristy as the via Veneto etc.

Weather really great...hot in the sun during the day, but not too bad and not humid like Atlanta. We had a little minor stress today but turned out OK. Very beautiful here, loving Rome so far. Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este with Daniella Hunt later today!
