Budget accomodation in Milan

Hi,

Everyone has been very helpful on here so far, and I wondered if anyone has any ideas of some budget accomodation in Milan?

Is the transportation system good or is it advisable to stay in the centre?

Which areas are generally good locations?

Thank you!!

I have stayed at the Ibis Milano Centro, part of the Accor Hotel chain. You can find them at www.accorhotels.com.

This is a very comfortable budget hotel. I have usually found rates in the range of your 80 Euros.

However, you don't mention when you're going. Weekday/weekend? Just randomly picking a date, say, September 23 (weekday) - obviously something must be happening in town then as their rates are almost 200 Euros (gulp!). However that Friday, September 25, the rate drops to 85 Euros.

Many times you can also get a better deal with a prepaid reservation.

Happy travels!

sorry, its the 10th and 11th October!

I have looked at the other Ibis which is 4km out of town and that is very cheap, however the central one is about 120 euros i think?

I am happy to stay out of town if the transport is good?

I haven't stayed here, but other Fodorites have.

I've stayed at Mini Hotel Aosta.

Rates can vary quite a bit in Milan due to conventions/trade fairs, etc.
