I personally wouldn't bother with bubble wrap. With the new restrictions on carry-on liquids, you can get 6 or 12 pack styrofoam lined boxes at a local winery or wine shop and put the wine in with your checked baggage. I've done it coming back from Italy and California -- it works great!!!

I bought 3 bottles of '99 Poggio Antico Brunello Riserva for about 50 bucks each, last May. I checked online - it goes for 130 bucks a bottle now. I did well! I had a dinner party over the weekend and it was the star of the show.
