If you have a flight during the strike period go to your itinerary on "Manage My Booking" and there will be information there regarding your flights and it will give you an option to cancel or rebook if you choose. I'm just going to wait it out a few more days. I called BA and they basically felt that my flights out of PHX to LHR would not be impacted.

Crsnyder: is that on a 747 or a 777? Is it a nonstop? The people on flyertalk seem to think the 777 flights are safe. Our flight is LHR to SEA on a 747. Rebooking is difficult because we used miles to buy the tickets. I think we're going to wait and see too. I hate this.

Ours is on a 747 nonstop. I have read those comments on flyertalk as well but I think they are trying to keep as many LH flights on profitable routes going as possible. I would think SEA would be safe as well. How many flights out of SEA per day to LHR? If there is more than 1 they may try to consolidate. There is only 1 flight out of PHX per day which is why she felt it was safe.

We can't rebook either unless its on another airline and its such a mess to do that I don't want to do it if I don't have to.

In my case, I am flying to Barcelona today from Atlanta without any problems. My return is affected though since it is on March 21. Flight from London to Atlanta is on 777, and from the seat chart I can see that most seats are already selected and this gives me a good hope that since it is 777 and almost full, it won't be cancelled. However, there is a small issue: before I get to London for the last leg of my trip, I have to fly from Lisbon to London on early morning BA flight. This one stands a serious chance of being cancelled. Like others, I was told that the fate of my flights home will be determined only the next week so for at least first three days of my vacation this thought "what if...?" will be stuck in my mind. Not a good thing for someone who goes to Europe to relax and have a great time.

I wish you well Kommers. Its been a rough few weeks and I hope all of your flights are not impacted and hopefully the strike will end before it even begins! I discussed the Europe flights with BA as well as my sister needs to fly from LHR to Paris on the 27th. She mentioned that there are so many flights and other airlines that BA should be able to accommodate everyone somehow. I would think that would go for the Lisbon leg as well?

crsnyder4, the same wish to you - I hope nothing will stand in your way when you fly. It is better if BA and Unite will end the conflict ASAP as this seriously hurts BA business and us who accidentally got into skirmish between two big guys. Unfortunately, with all my respect and sympathy for BA, I will think twice before bying another ticket from them. The damage has been done.

Crsnyder. There is only one flight from LHR to SEA everyday. I hope that works on our favor. Your BA rep was more forthcoming than mine. He did mention that there were about 30 seats left in economy. I
hopefully that means it's a busy enough route that they won't cancel.

Kommer - not to make light of your situation because we are all in the same crappy boat, but maybe this just means more time in Lisbon for you!

Crsnyder. Your sister is right about the availabilty of other airlines but it's not BA's policy to rebook on a different airline. It's either rebook on them or a refund.

Fingers crossed and saying little prayers!

BKP: yeah, more time in Lisbon, but I am not a member of Unite so nobody will defend me against my employer threatening companywide strike when I report late for work

More surprises.
My flight leaves NY on March 19, so I thought I was safe. WRONG. That flight is subject to cancellation; maybe because it arrives in Heathrow on March 20.

Anyway, I called British Air and changed my booking to March 17, same flight. I had prepaid for an aisle seat. so I requested that same seat as well. The agent I talked to said he had made the change.

Then, I checked my updated flight arrangements on the BA website. The flight change was made, but now I have no seat assignment.

I called back to British Airways, but now they are saying they can not handle the call traffic and will transfer my call to some outside travel angency. Cost is 20 pounds to talk to the travel agency.

I'm beginning to expect that I won't have my aisle seat. So glad I paid the extra $30, which I'll guess will not be returned.

Hope your all having better luck.

Stuart - continue to call the 1-800-Airways # until you get through to them. If you hear the transfer message, hang up and call again. Thats what I did and it worked after about 4-5 tries. Good Luck!

crsnyder4,

You are right. Finally got through. Then 30 minutes more waiting. This representative was able to book my seat. And I confirmed on "Manage My Booking" that it was done.

Thanks for letting me know about trying again and again until we get through.

OK, I think I'm ready to pack now.

Yay! Have a great trip. We moved our flights up 2 days as well and confirmed with our hotel so now we get an extended vacation. I'm a lot less stressed not having to wait and see anymore.

Good luck to everyone else out there!!

crsnyder -- That's great news for you! Unfortunately because of our award miles situation our only option is move our trip up 12 days. I believe though we can make that move and then if our flights are not cancelled we can move back. Wait and see. Wait and see.

Glad to see I'm not the only one having to deal with this mess! Luckily I got on ba.com today to check my return flight details and saw the news about the strike. I leave for Venice from DFW on March 22 and connect through London. My return flight from Rome won't be a problem. Unfortunately, I can't really move my travel dates.

I think I might just cancel and get a refund, then book a new(much cheaper) flight through American. It would just give me some peace of mind, not to mention save me some money.

When I called today, the customer service rep told me they should have the flight schedule finalized by this coming Monday. We'll see.

Just wanted to warn folks that I requested a refund on my ticket online yesterday through My Account. It looked like it went through but after a few hours, the ticket was still showing. Called BA and waited for about 1/2 hour. She confirmed that the ticket had not been cancelled and waited until I submitted again. When it did not cancel, she went ahead and cancelled for me. If you request a refund online, make sure the ticket is cancelled. If you wait until after your flight has passed, BA will assume that you missed your flight and you will not get your money back. Good luck everyone!

Good to know Matomio!

FYI -- My husband talked to a BA rep this morning. Given the nature of our flight: long haul, busy route, only one flight a day, he thinks we're safe and will not be cancelled (but we can't quote him).

The BA rep also said that if you rebook to another flight and your original flight is not cancelled there will be a rebooking fee to get you back on the original flight. This is NOT what their website says at the moment. The rep said he was just reading from their most recent update and that if someone were to go that route they would do well to get a screen shot or print out of the current wording.

Fingers still crossed (they are starting to cramp a bit but I'm devoted) for everyone's flights!

At this point we are not canceling or rebooking as our dates are not listed as strike dates. Initial flights on 3/16-17 show "confirmed," though the return on 3/24 says "subject to possible disruption." Is there something I'm missing here? Still hoping to fly BA as scheduled...
