British Airways Prices

Hi,
I've flown BA several times at competitive rates. This year, I'm finding prices more than $300 dollars more than the US airlines. Anybody have insight? Anybody found good fares with them for travel in May/June 2007? I'm really surprised how much more expensive they are this year. I prefer BA over my other choices, but not at $300 more a ticket!

They've had several "sales" to London ver what seems the past couple of months.

Perhaps they've moved enough seats they feel they can charge more for what's left....or perhaps they haven't moved as many and are trying to make up the difference?

IOW who knows what drives their ticket prices?

Have to be careful about this....you may be comparing apples and oranges...and then again perhaps you're not...

Airlines are given great leeway how they advertise their fares....most do not include taxes and taxes on the JFK-LHR route are approaching if not past $180 per round trip ticket...often times when I try to book JFK-LHR at aa.com the fare seems very reasonable until I realize I have to increase it by $180 (which comes up in the next screen)....are you comparing the toal fare including all taxes and fees?

LOL if anyone does figure out the answer can you let us know? There always seems to be one that is much higher and not always the same one!

With the drop in value of the dollar over the past year, that may explain some of the price differential. To maintain the same price in $ they would have to decrease the price in £. Would BA do this to stay competitive? I don't know.

To xyz123, yes I'm comparing total prices, with all taxes and fees factored in.

I shall just keep checking for better fares for as long as I can hold out. The same prices have been showing for the last two months.
