Your chance - plan a european trip

Please let me know where you would go, given the following parameters:

-3 weeks in August
-moderate budget (hostels and cheaper hotels, willing to pay to visit museums and other sights)
-traveling from the US (Visa's may or may not be an issue)

give me your ideal itinerary (i'm thinking 3 or 4 major cities, but it's your call).

No, it's really YOUR call. Only you know what you enjoy and what locations interest you.

Just a hunch - are you researching some sort of book or article?? Looking at some of your other threads -- you are supposedly already planning a trip to Eastern Europe in August so why now do you need us to plan your trip for you . . . . .

Three weeks equals no more then three major cities to me.

Type of travel also depends on whos travelling. Family with kids, or single young college folks,, two different types of travel .

If I was on my own, had three weeks, and a fair amount of energy,, I'd do Paris( of course and always) Prague, and maybe somewhere in Switzerland or Germany.
Theres also about 100 other trip combinations I would do,, so I guess there is no right answer.

Rent apartments rather than hotels wherever you go, it can be budget friendly and adds to the adventure

Nope, it's your call.

You will have to do your own work on this.

We only give advice, we don't organize. Think of us as consultants. )

I think some of you are misunderstanding my motive, which I might add is genuine. Yes, I am already planning a trip, and I thank all of you for your help. A couple of my planned cities are definite, however, I am still open to other suggestions. Therefore, this thread was an attempt to learn about where other people would plan to go, and from their ideas, I would research and decide if I were interested...sorry for the confusion.

Some things to consider:

What's the cheapest place to fly to?

How tolerant are you of heat, and of non-air-conditioned accommodation in hot places?

What do you mean by moderate budget?

moderate budget meaning $25 to $70 per night. Sometimes $25 (if going to a hostel).

not positive on my arrival and departure cities yet, but i will know in the next week or so.

i'd like air conditioning, but don't plan to spend $100 per night.

$25 USD = about 16 Euros, which is not enough for most hostels in most major western European cities, or even central European cities.

So if hostelling, look to Berlin and points east, or Portugal. Rural areas in western Europe can work too.

$70USD = about 45 Euros, which is enough for a single hotel room in the same places mentioned above, and if you are willing to accept low-scale accommodation, maybe in Paris. But otherwise, again look east and to rural areas.

You won't find rooms at $25 and you won't find a/c at $70.
