how old is their dog?]>

same age as the flannerpooch -old enough to ride free on all British transports - even if not accompanied by his/her master.

>[that sounds like one of those logic problems - if H qualified for his bus pass at age 60 and W qualifies for hers at age 66 but he got his 13 years before her, how old is their dog?]

And how long does it take to fill his bath?<

No wonder I trouble with Math(s) in school.

The flannerpooches may ride free ONLY IF accompanied by a human.

There are even some bits of Britain's public transport system that ban dogs altogether - though not in Oxfordshire or London.

Indeed, a brief survey seems to show that public transport dog bans correlate with having voted for Brexit. I suspect that comes from a different correlation: Remain-voting parts of the country have adorable, well-trained pooches. Spaniels, labs or retrievers.

Brexiteers have staffies. Often adorable too: but only if properly trained.

What about that cat in Leeds I think who famously hopped on the same bus daily to go several stops to the fish market and then back - he/she was required to have a ticket or just a fare dodger.

Honorary conductor, I think.

I knew there was a reason we decided to stay in the Cotswolds again next Fall and we won't even be riding any busses. But I will be watching for people with doggies for sure.

the late lamented John Peel once featured a story about a London dog who led a rich secret life, spending his days exploring the trains and buses, and even being fed by a police dog handling unit.

his owners only discovered this when the dog became ill and they were contacted by a number of people who were wondering where the dog was.

History does not relate [or more accurately I cannot remember] whether the dog returned to his old ways once he recovered.

As for cats, our local railway station has a station cat, called Hector, with his very own FB page:

Dukey

I would be wary of referring to any of the canines you meet in the Cotswolds as "doggies". It's only when talking to babies that soem people in England use the word.
