Britain (or should that be England's) seven worst

According to a BBC Radio 4 survey of Brits these are the seven worst locations in Britain. Maybe our Scottish and Welsh friends will be amused that they are all in England...

1. M25 motorway
2. Millennium Dome
3. Blackpool
4. Heathrow Airport
5. Birmingham New Street Station
6. Manchester Arndale Centre
7. Sellafield nuclear plant

They simply aren't trying (and sellafield is well impressive, if evil).

the worst thing in Britain:

1) The road to the North (turn again!)

2) The Wetherspoon Pub at Victoria Station

3) Peckham High St

4) The North Coast of wales with the endless caravan parks for pov's holidays.

5) The Clock End at Highbury

6) Coventry - all of it.

7) London Zoo

I could go on...

The North Coast of Wales is very beautiful with the mountains of Snowdonia, Abersoch, Portmeirion, Caernarfon and Anglesey just a few of its attractions.

Piccadilly Circus is the worst thing in Britain

My seven worst - in no particular order...

1. Cumbernauld. Any town with "What's it called?" as its advertising slogan has a serious problem...

2. Any road in London when you're in a car.

3. Kings Cross and Euston Stations. Prime examples of 1960s/70s architecture at their worst.

4. Glasgow after an Old Firm match.

5. The Birmingham Bullring - now happily demolished.

6. The Jubilee line on the Tube. About as reliable as a Trabant.

7. The Eurostar from London to the Tunnel. Takes about as long to go from Calais to Paris as from London to the tunnel.

I think you will find Kings Cross is a lot older than 60's to 70's. It was there long before that.

Depends what's meant by the worst:

eg 7 most pikey places:

1) Arsenal
2) Skegness
3) Brighton
4) Argos (anywhere; Ditto LIDL Netto etc)
5) The National Express Station in Victoria
6) Mr Byrite
7) The North (all of it)

it would be different if one were looking for minging, munting or downright pov.

Actually, I liked Coventry. I think the way they built the new cathedral (not to my taste) next to the bombed out and very scenic old one was brilliant. There is also a very old and pretty alms house close by. I do vote that Picadilly Circus is awful.

David West,
Unless I have misunderstood what you meant, when you stated, the north(all of it), is amongst Britains 7 worst locations; does this include the likes of Scotland and Yorkshire. If that is what you meant, I find this very difficult to comprehend, maybe you would like to explain yourself.

Not the north surely! That's the Peak District, the Lake District, the Yorkshire Moors - the most beautiful areas in Britain. We do have some grotty towns up here - "structurally improved" during the 70s and 80s.
My vote goes to Oxford Circus (all tube exits) Oxford St and Piccadilly Circus.

Nah, all of the north it is.

THe North to me is:

Pound shops
Pikey pubs full of povs and plebs.
White stilletos and bare legs in winter (the girls too).
8 Ace.
Rat boys.
Shellsuits.
bin dippers.
Staggeringly ugly girlybirds, with tattoos absolutely dandoed on hooch or other tart fuel.
Bigg Market.
Whole streets for sale for 2 weeks unemployment benefit.
Babies with earings.
Joyriders.
Geoffrey bloody Boycott.
Brian bloody Blessed.

I could go on.

Admittedly there are a few handkerchief sized places that aren't covered in slag heaps or Lidls that are tolerable to look at.

As Dr Johnston said about the Giants CAuseway "worth seeing? Yes. Worth going to see. No."

Caution: THis post may contain irony.
Ah, how differently we see things. For an aviation buff there is no place on earth quite like Heathrow Airport. And a room at the Renaissance Hotel directly across from the main runway is pure Paradise.

GK
