Bristol High Tea/Fashion Show

The Hotel Bristol occasionally has Sat.afternoon High Tea/Fashion Shows. You can find all about them on their website. $50 or $60.

I have been in touch with them for several months to see if there would be one while I was in Paris for a month. Just heard from them, that there will be one on 10/4. Not ready for reservations quite yet. Here is the designer:www.docquin.fr
Click on it and take a look. Alexandre Docquin.

They are well attended. The Bristol is a lovely place....

Enjoy............

gracejoan3,

I am hoping to take my two teenage girls who love fashion to the Bristol when we are in Paris in early June.
Wondering if my husband comes along with us whether he needs to pack a sportcoat jacket for this event. In the slide show most men are wearing them, but it appears that some are not. Do you know if coat and tie are required? Since we are going to TRY to consolidate our packing, I would not want him to bring a jacket unless he will need it.

Thanks so much,
Beth
Oh, did you attend the show and enjoy it? Is it worth attending. We will be going on our last day in Paris. Hoping to end on a high note.

Hi Beth,

The easiest way to take a jacket is to wear it on the plane. It can be taken off and hung up or put above. I think your husband might feel more comfortable wearing one. No tie.

The next show is Mar. 7th. Early in the month seems normmal. It would probably be June 6th. Check their website in May for information. You can then make reservations online.

I will probabaly go to the one in ealy May when I will be in Paris.

I'm sure your girls will enjoy it.

Just so folks won;t snigger at you,

Afternoon Tea or Cream Tea is the fancy sandwiches, scones, etc spread.

High Tea is a very simple supper (or dinner).

Ira, the OP is correct. (I've come across many places that call it High Tea, even if what they meant was afternoon tea.) At the Bristol, it has been Fashion High Teas or High Tea and Haute Couture.

Thank you so much for your reply. Good idea on wearing the jacket on the plane. We are fortunate enough due to FF miles to be flying first class so that should be easy.

When you went, were there quite a few men in attendance? I really don't know if my husband will understand all of the fuss. I know my girls and I will totally enjoy it, but in case he does want to tag along with the girls...

Thanks again,

Beth

Yes, there were many men there. These are very nice events. Not at all like the free ones at Galeries Lafayette.

Enjoy your first class flying!

Originally, it was High Fashion Tea. We attended one of the early ones.

Perhaps the "high" meant the fashion, not the tea.

I have only met real high tea in Scotland and oddly enough, in the Scillies.
In both cases, dinner was for adults only.
The earlier meal at 6pm was ideal for families.

The original name was Fashion High Tea, an obvious play on words.
