As no American or Asian tourists want to visit Brienz for the next weeks, the season is over anyway.
Trains will run again from June 7th 2025.
Bu Brienzer Rothorn can be reached by gondola from Soerenberg (Lucerne) as usual.
Tjhe restaurant Brioenzer Rpothorn will be closed from Nov 1

Well, this American will visit Zermatt and Thun in the next weeks, in 6 days in fact! And if time allows, we were planning on a boat ride/hike in Brienz. Looking forward to returning to Switzerland and bringing my family.
As I'm a planner, I look into all kinds of details and news about places I'm visiting. In fact, our first hotel in Zermatt, let us know they were closed due to the flooding, so I can imagine other folks
assumed the whole town was shut down. Ditto for Brienz.

As you look into all kinds of details, you certainly saw that repalcement buses run every 30 minutes
https://www.zentralbahn.ch/en/plan/operating-situation
https://www.matterhorngotthardbahn.c...c-informations
and you saw that the gondola from Cervinia to Zermatt runs as usual.
and you saw on booking.com that more than 100 hotels and apartments can be booked at Zermatt for the next days.
That might be a bit strange if the whole place would be shut down.

Neckervd, thank you for posting on this sad situation, bringing it to our attention (or my attention, actually). I don't know about others here but I so rarely hear about things like this on the news and even if I don't anticipate a visit to those areas in the near future, we've visited them, or been near them in times past. I'm sorry to read this news, but again, thank you for informing us.

Brienz-Bus subs for trains:
I arrive in exactly ONE month for a 10 day stay in Brienz.
Any Swiss 'Feet on the Ground' with updates on 'expected' resumption of rail travel through Brienz?
I know that tomorrow is just two weeks since the flood event, but both my FeWo host and Sylvie Michel (photog that lives in Brienz) both felt 'rather certain' that the trains would be up by our arrival.
Its sounding more optimistic at this time?
(This + an intervening health event have me skeptcal).

Train travel may resume in October. Until then there are buses between Interlaken and Brienz as well as between Interlaken and Meiringen. They leave Interlaken exactly at the same time as the trains.
In the other direction, the buses leave Meiringen immediately after the arrival of the trains from Lucerne.

mokka4 - this one? Their site shows current dates with operating times, so it appears to be open. There's also a contact number, should you want to call them directly.
