Brief note from Paris: great "soldes" going on!
Here I am in "Paree", enjoying every minute of it!
Walked down Rue Alesia and on General Leclerc this afternoon and there are great sales going on. I couldn't resist, bought a nice mid tight black coat at Carol's - just love it!
Had a nice light dinner (had a big meal for lunch at my friend's place...) at the Atelier on Blvd Montparnasse. My friend and I had the onion soup (delicious) and the "crepe complete" (also good). With a "caraffe de Boully" (sp??) that alone costed 23 euros, plus tip, the bill was 53 euros for two.

Poor Brazilnut! I saw on our news that it was snowing in Paris - is that true? The temps look frigid, such a shame for anyone wanting to walk along the Seine. Sounds like you may have to spend more time indoors in those sales. I hope you brought long, thermal underwear, that does help. Stay warm, and keep us informed.

Brazilnut, that's so unfair that you are getting cold weather now, when it was relatively warm for so long in Paris this winter. I'm watching the temperatures carefully for our upcoming trip. I'm glad you have some good coats!

Hi there!
Yesterday it was very, very cold and windy, especially as my daughter and her fried decided we should go to Pere Lachaise to visit Jim Morrison's grave. I was surprised at how many people were there even in the cold weather! The grave was full of flowers.
We ate at a nice little bistro there - Cafe Voltaire. The girls had the onion soup and I had a delicious 'pottage de legumes'.Very reasonable prices.
We had planned to walk down to Place de la Republique but it was too cold. Took the metro instead (just love the Carte orange!!). We also decided to ride the metro to Place de La Bastille and from there to take another one to Hotel de Ville.
This morning started with snow. But it was warmer than yesterday, thank goodness!
And Dukey, I do not have a fur coat, but I am surprised at how many people here wear them, without worrying if someone will throw ink on the coat!
