Our water at home is moderately hard; the source is surface flow in the Cumberland River, middle Tennessee USA. I grew up drinking tea brewed in water taken from the lower Mississippi (which may explain some personality quirks... :^) ), and well water in northern Delaware. We've also had tea made with water from various sources in India, and groundwater in rural Switzerland.

Only in Paris have *we* had this challenge. But, since we're only here for the occasional week or two, we can survive without our daily cuppa.

PatrickLondon, I kinda doubt that American-sold teas are blended with any consideration to the water they'll be used with. Most make a barely-drinkable iced tea, and very few are suitable for hot. Maybe someday soon, we'll get to try a London-brewed cup!

And so, sadly, our time this visit comes to an end. The weather put a damper on some plans, so we spent more time than usual inside trying to stay warm, and reading. Didn't hit a single restaurant or café for a meal, save a stop at Angelina's for chocolate chaud a la ancienne; only Monoprix, Franprix, and Ed/Dia benefitted from our visit. (And one or two scarf vendors near Notre Dame.) Just finished cleaning out the fridge with the dinner omelette, now time to pack and nap before the early morning RER out to CDG.

Au revoir, Paris!

The Brita filter suggested above is a good idea. They make one the size of a standard water bottle (more or less) and one per person can increase your pleasure when you don't have bottled water.
