More Trenitalia Woes
I have read several posts from Fodorites having trouble making reservations with trenitalia. Add my name to the list. I registered as I was supposed to. I got a password within a day. I waited a day to use the password in case they took their time registering it. I remembered my user ID. And when I went to log in to buy a ticket from Rapallo to Florence the system didn't recognize my password..., so I tried various combinations of upper case and lower case lettering, although the password appeared to be exclusively in upper case. No dice. After five attempts the system boots you out and you can't do anything. I sent an e-amil to the Trenitalia Help desk last week - no response. I think my only resort is to call them...unless I wait till I get to Italy to buy a ticket. That first class ticket for EUR 15 on a Saturday would have been nice....any other suggstions?

GAC - another question. If the system was able to "recognize that it did not recognize" my password (if you know what I mean), doesn't that indicate that it was operational at the time I was trying to book my ticket? Thanks again for your help.

Thanks, Ira, but I've made my maximum five attempts and believe I am permanently barred from booking a ticket on the internet. Is it possible to register as another user? I think I need to start the process over during the intervals you recommend.

The trenitalia online sales operating hours are (officially) from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Italy time. Naturally, there can be downtime due to heavy usage, viruses, etc.
I believe that you are already aware that bookings can be accepting no more than 60 days in advance.

Hi gar,
>I've made my maximum five attempts and believe I am permanently barred from booking a ticket on the internet.<
Are you sure? I've done this before and they just wouldn't let me back on for about an hour.
You can, of course, reregister.
