Born District, Barcelona
Hi there
I am travelling with my family (husband, 4 year old and baby) to Barcelona next month (September 2011). The accommodation that I had booked was cancelled yesterday and I am trying to find another suitable apartment for us to rent.
I have seen a number of apartments advertised for the Born District. Is this a safe area, considering we have small children? Any other opinions on the area are welcome too. Also considering Eixample for rentals. If it makes any difference, we are looking at approximately 100 to 150 Euros per night.
Best regards

When I think of the two, Exaimple brings to mind broad, tree-lined streets, and Born brings to mind narrow medieval lanes interspersed with plazas. My impression is that they are both desirable but in different ways. I could be wrong.
Neither is much like Bulawayo

Born is trendy, hip, lots of bars and restaurants.
The streets are narrow ( old part of town) but well lit and safe.
Eixample ( a big area, stay close to Catalunya) is more modern, wide boulevards and sidewalks, a bit more quiet at night , many fine restaurants and shops.
In your price range , take a look at Habitat for rental.
With small children , I would stay in Eixample.

El Born is excellent, also with small kids. You are also very close to both the great Ciutadella park with the lake, zoo and everything as well as the Barceloneta beach.
