Can anyone point me to a good bookstore in central london? Looking for something similar to blackwells in oxford.

Waterstone's on Piccadilly is a good bet: 6 floors, has everything, plus a bar at the top with great views over London. Also Foyle's on Charing Cross Road: vast, chaotic, practically an institution.

I'll third Waterstone's -- ended up shipping an entire box of books home last time!

Do try Hatchard's in Picadilly! It's a classic of a store (you'll read about it in plenty of books!) with something like six floors of wonderful browsing. <BR> <BR>You can even break for lunch at Fortnum and Mason's tea room next door.

Foyles in Charing X rd used to be the largest bookshop in the world. It may still be. Its jolly big anyway.

If you start on Charing Cross Road about Leicester Square and just walk towards Oxford Street, apart from the specialists, you'll get the biggest branches of Books etc, and Waterstones, not to mention Foyles. <BR> <BR>But don't ignore the specialists
