Booking train ride from London to Manchester
#4
nothing wrong with trainline, but booking with the actual train company gets you better comms if things go wrong. Recently saw that in a trip with a friend, I'd booked direct, he through TL. I got the message a train was cancelled about a day ahead of him.

It's best to book with the actual rail line, and different rail companies command certain routes out of London. The line that goes north to Liverpool and Manchester is on Avanti West. It leaves out of Euston Station.
