Booking Rome hotels

It appears that nearly all of the moderately priced, well located Rome hotels have no e-mail addresses or connections to the on- line hotel booking sites.Trying to phone these places can be maddening, and many of them require a fax. The on-line hotel booking sites list many hotels, but most of them are not in the best locations. Has anybody else run into this?

When booking my Italy trip I used email for almost all of the hotels. A few needed to be booked by fax. I made up a standard fax which I sent to all the hotels asking if they have availablity and if so please hold a room and I will fax or email them a credit card number. This way when they came back I could choose the best one. Be sure to include an email address for them to respond-most do have it. Hope this helps.

Which hotels are you interested in, maybe someone here can advise on how to contact them? I found emails for all the hotels I considered. All 3*, well-located, mid-priced. I didn't use booking services, I emailed directly for info and faxed my credit card info to confirm. Many of the hotels have their own web sites with email info.

Doug,

Hello. I am leaving for Rome in six weeks and booked a small hotel from the recommendation of a frequent poster on this forum. There are a few threads about the place and everyone seemed please with it. It is called Residenza San Pantaleo and is located right near Piazza Navona and on a bus line. You can reach them at : [email protected]. Like I said, I haven't been there myself yet but I'm very excited to go and stay there because it sounds like a great place with a super location. Price for me in the first week of March was $75 a night, including tax and breakfast.

If you e-mail them Carlo will respond back to you very soon.

Happy planning!

Sandi

The hotel had a 3-star rating, but was closer to 2-star in reality. It was nothing like the info I was given.

When I returned and complained I got a "sorry about your bad luck" attitude and that was it. They really didn't care that I had a horrible experience and did absolutely nothing to correct it.
