Booking.com - recommend?

I'm looking to book 9 total nights at 2 hotels in Barcelona and San Sebastian. Normally I use expedia. But booking.com is showing the same rooms for 20% less. I'd like to take advantage of that but I want to make sure booking.com isn't going to burn me. They are non-refundable rooms so I want to be extra sure.

Please advise.

We have used them in fivr countries now and never had a problem. In fact, we prefer using them over the bigger brands.

I prefer booking directly with hotels, if the cost is equal.
However, I used booking.com for a hotel in Switzerland and one in Italy because neither had online booking.
Quick and easy confirmation, and no problem in either case.

I've used them often and never had a problem. Check trivago.co.uk to see if there is a better deal on the hotels you're looking at. They pull together all the booking providers and show you the best five deals for any hotel.

I've used them for about 10 different hotel stay and find it easy and quick to use. Also the reviews on there are great, I think they only let you leave a review after you stay there so it's quite reliable.

I have used them for about 20 hotel bookings so far in 6 different countries and have had absolutely no problems. On the odd occasion I have had to cancel my booking due to changed plans, the money was refunded as outlined in the "Cancellation Policy"

For big cities save even more on www.betterbidding.com

bidding priceline pick up 5 * hotels there from $80

but like otel everything not refundable.

so be sure and have trip insurance.

i used booking.com for my upcoming trip. reservations were easily made and afterward i emailed each hotel directly to confirm. the only problem i had was with one hotel in Siena losing the reservation due to computer failure, but that's not fault of booking.com. Good Luck =D

I used it once for a hotel in Paris and had no problems at all. I really liked them as I got about one third off the rack rate, as I recall, and it was cheaper than any other website for that hotel (including the hotel's own, of course). The hotel gave me just as good a room as usual.

They screwed me out of $800+, so no, I don't recommend them.

Well, you've opened a year-old thread to add one sentence. Anything further to add? How did they 'screw' you and what have you/they done about it?

I know as I remember reading it somewhere else, something about how he doublebooked a hotel because he couldn't remember if he had booked one or not, and the online website didn't show the prior reservation. And then they wouldn't refund the money for the second reservation.

The story sounds screwy since you print your confirmation at time of booking and they would send a confirmation email besides the bookings would showing on My Booking. Even if they registered using different names, the story doesn't make sense.
