Bologna Resaurants

Well I am here in Bologna after months of planning and months of hell in Iraq and Afghanistan. I arrived last night and will do a full trip report upon my return at the end of the month. However, I wanted to get this out there.

I ate last night at Da Cesari in Bologna. It was absolutely amazing food and fantastic service. I did not make a reservation and decided to trek from my hotel to find Cesari (went back and read Ekscrunchy's reveiw). I went about 9pm, walked right in and had an amazing meal. I had the Caprese to start, Tortellini en Brodo di manzo and then the Scaloppa di vitello alla “Petroniana” con patate al forno. I told my waitress in my best Italian that my grandmother always cooked me the tortellini e brodo as a kid, but this tonight was better than she ever made. She laughed and I said, but if my grandmother heard this, she'd be upset with me!

Anyways - if you are looking for a great place to eat - away from a touristy area/crowd. Check them out.

Thanks jmct! I'm only a few days into this trip and already have some great memories and stories. I went last night to the I-day festival/concert in Bologna to see Blink-182 and a few other bands. I'm still relatively young (33) but man those young Italians were CRAZY at this concert. I got pummeled as I was in the front middle section. I felt like I had been in a 15 round boxing match afterwards. And I wasn't even in any "mosh pit" area. We had to move back to the older peoples standing area. Haha

All in all it was great and now the real vacation begins today in Venice. I'll wait to post after the whole trip ends on 27 Sep.
