Would love some advice on our Italy itinerary for next summer. Mainly, if we should stay in Bologna or Verona for 2 nights. Our itinerary is:

2 nights Venice
2 nights in either Bologna or Verona
4 nights Lake Como (renting a car)

I went to college in Bologna and love it but wondering if Verona would be a better location for the 2 nights since it's closer to lake como. We would do a day trip to Bologna. OR should we do 1 night Bologna and 1 night Verona? We are an active couple in our 40s FYI. We don't need nightlife but love walking around, eating good food, having wine in the square, people watching, etc.

Depending on how long ago you studied in Bologna, it might be worth a sentimental visit.

I don't see much point in staying two nights in Verona and doing a day trip to Bologna. At that point you might just as well.spend the two nights in Bologna.
