Schengen Visa Italy - Do I need Hotel Reservations
Hi,
I am traveling to Italy and need a schengen visa. The Italy consulate requires a hotel reservation. What can I do, if I want to keep my Italy stay open and not been tied down to hotel reservations?
Can I book a hotel and cancel it after I get my visa?

It may cost you one night charges if you cancel. If you book in one of the chain hotels (Holiday Inn, etc.) you may be able to cancel just a day or two before scheduled arrival without penalty.
However, I cannot imagine that the Italian authorities haven't thought of this trick and have made provisions to stop travellers from doing so.
