Hello!

My husband and I will be in Lake Como in July and will have 2 full days there. I was thinking of either renting a boat that we drive for a few hours one morning or possibly getting a private boat to take us on a tour. 2 questions:

1) Any advice on which is the better way to go - drive the boat ourselves or take a tour? My preference would be to rent our own boat but not sure how hard it will be since we aren't avid boaters.

2) Should we book it now or can we wait till we get there to see which day has the better weather?

Personally, I wouldn't want us to handle a boat alone... in unfamiliar waters... in a country where I'm not fluent in the language. And my husband has a lot of boating experience.

ha, I actually am fluent in Italian I grew up in Rome and went to the university of bologna. I’ve rented/driven a boat on the Amalfi coast years ago and it was fine. I guess im just looking for people who have done this before to get a better read.

We always use the ferries to take us all over the lake but I have seen private boat rides with an included driver. Check with ICBellagio, a local travel agency, for info on boat rides or rentals.
