BOAC/British Airways?

Is BOAC the old name for British Airways or are these two different airlines? What does BOAC stand for? Thanks.

I'm not sure if it's now known as BA but it stands for British Overseas Airways Corp. I flew them as a child in the Caribbean.

M_kingdom, why do you always have to be a jerk? Actually, I don't care. Just be quiet, unless you have something "relevant" to say!

This is a travel forum, this is an irrelevant issue. Furthermore using "google" you could easily have found what you were looking for:http://airlines.afriqonline.com/airlines/560.htm

Spend your own time before wasting others please.

British Airways was formed in 1972 from a merger of BOAC and British European Airways (BEA) as well as a number of smaller airlines (Northeast, Cambrian). It took in British Caledonian in the 1980's.

My, but m_kingdom is in a pleasant mood today.

I wonder what possible information it is possible to get here that you couldn't find somewhere else on the net. It's too bad that some people are so disagreeable and nasty that they can't see that it's OK to come here for a quick answer, and that anyone who isn't interested in helping could just keep quiet about it.
