blue van vs. cab from cdg to 7th
hi. i have always used the van service b/c i just assumed it had to be cheaper than a cab. that said, there have been posts here that have said that if there are 2 passengers, it is a wash. the blue van is 29 Euros one way for the two of us.
we are staying on rue st dominique.
can a cab really be the same amt? thanks

We just used Bluevan last month, and they wouldn't take tips. We had to wait at the airport for them to arrive for nearly a half an hour. There was ont other group that was dropped off before we were, and they were on the other side of the city from us. However, we enjoyed the ride because it was a sightseeting tour right through the heart of the tourist area. On the way back we were the onoy people on the van and arrived at the qirport quit early because we had ordered them early enough to compensate for additional passenger pick-ups and traffic delays. of course, it was clear sailing all the way to the airport.

Where on St Dominique are you staying? We have stayed on the corner of St Dominique/Rapp/Bourdannais for the last 4 years and loved the location. We have done the van and a cab from CDG but prefer to take a cab back to CDG so that we get there when we want to and are not worrying about too many stops along the way. One time we almost missed our flight do to others not being ready for the van pick up.

we are renting an apt at 133 rue st. dominique. we know the 7th well and wanted to stay there again but in an apt rather than a hotel.
i meant do i tip the cab driver? the van is to pick us up at 11:15 for the return and our flight isn't til 2:50. what time would i need to get in a cab?

We ususally get to CDG three hours prior to departure even though our flights are usually around 10 a.m. You have to figure in the traffic and then checkin. Tip the taxi driver about 10%. Some will just give you a total amount to pay with everything figured into it already.

We have also stayed in the 7th on both of our trips to Paris, so I'm curious; are you renting an apt. on Dominique, or is that the address of a hotel? Inquiring minds want to know.
BTW, when last there, we paid 50 Euros to go from CDG to Ave. Motte Piquet,(7th, not far from r. Dominique) but there were 5 of us and 5 pieces of luggage, plus ran into a bit of a traffic tie=up once into the city.

i had found an apt on vrbo that i liked. i had spoken with one of the owner's who told me it was available but then when he spoke w/ his wife, she told me it was not but they offered to then rent us their apt. (where they live when they are in paris) instead. it really looks lovely but there is no official listing for it. but i will be sure to give a full update when we return. 18 days til paris (but who's counting!!)
