Happy New Year jmw!

There is a website with a few webcams of Dresden. www.dresden-cam.com

I like the webcams No. 1 (out of order at the moment), 2, 3, 5 in particular.

No. 5 is a webcam hosted by my dentist. He initiated the reconstruction of the Frauenkirche. The webcam shows the view from his house at the southern hillsides (a favourite residential area with plenty of beautiful villas) of the city centre (zoomed).

Back to work tomorrow!

The pics on this site are indeed very old ... but if you click on one of them the webcams open in a new window - and these are up-to-date

Had some phone calls from Italian friends last night. One dear friend who went to Siena told me how cold it was. But than went on to say that they had been in the piazza in Siena listening to the "two bands" all evening, so guess it couldn't have been that cold, LOL. But maybe all the wine they drank kept them warm?

I just watched some TV coverage from Sacramento and Napa Valley. Now those are extreme weather conditions. Hope none of you have been caught in it!

OK, I cannot help myself. Schuler, I've been watching the news about the horrendous weather conditions in northern California, too. Do you know that in Washington (DC), some politicians say that New Orleans should not be rebuilt because of its location? Well I wonder why they don't say the same about California locations in harms way. For goodness sake, an earthquake is likely to dump a good portion of the most beloved areas into the ocean, no? I apologize for injecting a grouchy tone to this thread, but it does frustrate me so. Happy New Year, all. J.

BTW, no one needs to answer my question. I already know the answer. I'm just venting.

Drowning Conditions All Across Northern California. Definitely true in the past few days! Fortunately we live on the hillside and so far no mudslide in our area. We actually welcome the rain but wished it wasn't pouring down all at once. Our dry ground is just not used to handling this much rain. We were just commenting how strange it was to see so many umbrellas in California.
