Between Rimini and Venice

any suggestions for where we can drive between Rimini and Venice. We have a day to make the trip and plan to get to Venice by late evening. Would love to find a few places to stop enroute to Venice that would be interesting and beautiful. we have our 16 year old daughter with us. Thanks in advance for your help.

It might not be possible to do all of these in a day, but they are my favorites: First: Drop down a bit south to Urbino, one of the most lovely towns in the whole area. Then drive up to San Marino, just to say you've been there. From there, head north to Ravenna, then further north to Ferrara for an hour or two. Ferrara is one of the loveliest, most-overlooked towns in Italy. Near Padova, see La Rotonda at Abano Terme, and Villa Pisani at Stra. Then head into Venice knowing you've had a full and satisfying day.

Having been to Ravenna and Urbino both I would strongly reccomend skipping Urbino. The drive from Urbino to Venezia can be an hours long affair due to traffic or fog or our lovely combination of the two plus getting lost. Ravenna calls for most of a day to see. Be sure to go to Classe as well as Ravenna.
