Best Way from Cinque Terre to Burgundy?

Decisions, decisions...This summer my wife and I will be taking a three week vacation in Italy and France, and we seek some advice concerning transport from Liguria to Burgundy. After spending a few days in the Cinque Terre, we'll be moving on to Burgundy for four days, and then it'll be on to Paris for five days. Our question is: what is the best, most efficient way of traveling from the C.T. to Beaune (our first two overnights in Burgundy)? Can we get a flight from Pisa or Genoa to Lyon, and then take a train to Beaune? If not, will we need to fly from Pisa to Paris, and then hop a train south to Burgundy? Finally, would we be better off simply taking a train from Liguria to Burgundy?

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Hi E,

www.whichbudget.com only shows flights to Paris from Pisa and Genoa.

www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html shows SmartPrice tickets of 66E pp in a T4 couchette for the train leaving La Spezia at 18:17, slightly higher for the 18:40.

Hi P,

It goes from La Spezia to Parma (change trains) to Piacenza to Dijon Ville.

The 18:40 goes to Milan (change train) to Dole to Dijon Ville.

Ira,

Thanks much for your response. Rather than make the lengthy and time-consuming trip from Liguria to Burgundy, we've decided to take a train from the Cinque Terre to the Cote D' Azur and make that our four-day base prior to heading on to Paris. (Burgundy will have to wait until a later trip) If memory serves, the trip from the CT to Nice is about five hours, and last summer we had an enjoyable time in Provence. Perhaps we'll spend a couple overnights in Villefranche and two more in Antibes. From there we can take the TGV to Paris. It leaves from Nice, does it not?

Thanks again for your reply.
