best villages in provence to visit?
I'll be basing my trip in Avignon and we'll be staying at Auberge de Cassagne. We'll be there four and half days.
We are visiting Avignon, Arles, St. Remy, Pont du Gard, Gordes, Roussillon, Abbey de Senaque. Any villages I may have missed that will be worth seeing? And would anyone skip any of the villages I've mentioned? We'll be there in July. thanks Tonja

If you are in or near St. Remy, you should probably add Les Beaux. Someone said "after awhile all the little perched villages look alike". While somewhat true, they are all different too. We were in the area 2 weeks ago and enjoyed a one day circuit from our room in Gordes through Oppede (can't remember the spelling) Menerbes, and Bonnieux. Darn, am still jetlagged and can't remember how to spell anything! We came back via Gault so didn't have to backtrack. BTW loved the Abbey at Senanque.

I love your itinerary - you are visiting most of my favorite villages in Provence. I second the suggestion to Visit Les Baux. We stayed there and it is one of my favorite parts of Provence and very close to the villages you have on your itinerary already. I wouldn't skip anything you've listed. I don't find Arles as charming as most of the others - but it does have a great market. By all means don't miss the Abbey de Senanque - the lavender should be blooming in July!
